Welcoming Prayer

What?

The Welcoming Prayer is a practice of allowing and consenting to the action and presence of God in our lives.

Why?

As we practice the Welcoming Prayer, we acknowledge and release our desires for control of outcomes and give our consent to be shaped by God. Our ability to trust in God grows with practice.

How?

The Welcoming Prayer helps to relax the habits of mind that keep us stuck in old patterns and emotional reactivity by allowing us to prayerfully surrender and release them. Engage here

lectio divina (divine reading)

What?

Lectio Divina is an ancient Christian practice involving prayerful, contemplative, reading or listening to scripture.

Why?

This practice allows us to approach scripture with our whole selves, not just with our minds.

How?

Lectio Divina involves the slow repeated readings of the same selected Bible verses with time for silent reflection between each reading. The repetition of the verses, along with time for prayerful reflection and guided shifts in focus, allow the listener to enter more fully into the passage. Try it here
